Week 36: Long Live Sister Hick

Image
Wow!! Whatta crazy, happy, stressful, spiritual, tear-filled, miracle-filled, awesome week! I don't even know where to begin... I had always heard about everything going wrong on the week of a baptism, but I never understood it cuz all of mine always turned out great! But oh boyyy, Satan was doing everything he could to stop the baptism this week. And man did it tear me up inside. Made me so stressed and frustrated and UGH I hate Satan. I think I prayed more this week than I did in my 3 years of high school combined. I was praying and praying and praying that things would be okay & that this family would hold strong. And they did:) Cashlyn and her dad got dressed in white on Saturday! She came up from the water with a giant smile on her face and both of her parents were in tears. It was the most beautiful day! Sunday was just as great! We had 7 nonmembers come to church. 7!! That's literally the amount of  members  that were coming when I first got here! It's remarkable...

Week 82: la fine dell'inizio

Well here we are. I had a dream last night that I wasn't a missionary anymore and I woke up in tears ahaha it's gonna be hard to leave! I think if it weren't for my family and friends back at home I'd stay here just a little longer, but hey all good things have to end! And someone once told me that this is just "la fine dell'inizio" -- the end of the beginning! Which is so true, I'm excited to take everything I've learned here on the mission and go home and live it. My mission was nothing I ever expected but everything I always needed. From opening my call the same day the world shut down, to doing onliceMTC at the cabin in Montana. From riding bikes in the snow in Colorado, to spending Christmas in a barn in Wyoming. From eating too much pesto in Genova to getting blown away in Trieste. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. The Lord proved me and humbled me and taught me and loved me and WALKED with me. And I'm so grateful I got to stic...

Ciaooo amici miei!! This last week has been so full of miracles I can't even begin to count. The Lord is truly blessing this city and preparing people to accept the gospel! Oh how wonderful it's been! Here's a little rundown: This whole transfer we have been praying & fasting & working to receive a golden referral, and this week we ended up getting UN SACCO (a ton)!! - our recent convert Tani started sharing the gospel with his 16 year old son and now he wants to meet with us and start coming to church! - our awesome nonna (grandma) of the ward introduced us to her friend who introduced us to her sister & nephew and we had an AMAZING Restoration lesson with all 3 of them:) we gifted them each a book of Mormon and they were so excited! Very promising! - this cool 18 year-old member who's preparing for a mission wants us to teach his girlfriend with him! So awesome:) "For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I ...

Ciaooooo!! Buon anno a tutti! Happy new year! I hope you all had a great new years. Italy goes crazy for new years. Fireworks were going off all night in every single square but I slept through it all HA there's no sleep like mission sleep. This week was great! We went on a lot of exchanges which is always the best. I learned so much and saw lots of miracles! We also had some amazing lessons with the members in our ward. I think the highlight of the week was doing a virtual temple tour with our sweet friend Onorina! My bestest friend, Sorella Castellano, from the fort collins mission who's now serving in Rome gave us the tour:) it was so special to see her eyes light up when she saw the temple and heard about eternal families. The sweetest part was at the end of the tour she said the prayer for us. It went a little like this, " dear jesus,  thank you for these beautiful girls who help me know about your church. Thank you for this beautiful temple. Help me lord that one day...

Week 79: A true Italian Chirstmas!

Ciao a tuttiiii!! Buon Natale! Merry Christmas:) i hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families! I had a great Christmas here in Trieste! It was honestly everything I ever hoped it would be and the awesome members made me feel completely at home! Something really cool I got to do on Christmas morning was go to catholic mass! We went with one of our investigators. We made a deal with him to do a chiesa scambio (church swap) so we would go to his church on saturday and he would come to ours on sunday! The mass was awesome! Very different, but still very spiritual. I think the best part was that I got to be in the shoes of the investigator, I got to feel how they might feel walking into a new and strange environment. I have come to gain a lot of respect and understanding for the Catholics here in Italy. It's been beautiful to learn more about them because in return, they are so more willing to learn about us! And we truly aren't as different as we might think. I find ...
