Week 20: Jesus take the handle bars

Image
What's up everyone, I hope y'all had a good week and are staying warmer than I am over here in Colorado! It snowed about 10 inches on Sunday and the temp dropped to 0 degrees. Non mi piace🙃  We biked to church wearing sweatpants under our dresses and dodging all the snow plows as they came up behind us. I was singing "Jesus take the wheel" in my head the whole way there. After church we had a couple lessons in the area that we just walked to cuz the snow would not stop dumping. Since there was no way for us to bike home in the powder and members aren't allowed to give rides anymore, we walked the 3.5 miles back to our apartment! It was an adventure to say the least. We played 20 questions but it turned into 150 questions before we got home lol good times!  Some cool stuff: • We went on exchanges and I got to be with my trainer Sister Aiono for the day! SUCH A BLESSING. I was losing the polynesian in me but I quickly got it back;) • While on exchanges, we were at ...

Week 19: biking in the cold for the Lord

Ciao a tutti! I'm alive and well, just absolutely freezing:) I think living in Hawaii made my blood pretty thin and I am definitely NOT ready for winter on a bike! Send warm thoughts my way lol. It was a bit of a slower week this week 'cause our people were super busy...or maybe they are just avoiding us?¿ Who knows hahah! Here are some highlights: - We did some service for a cute old lady in our ward named Frances. She wanted to feed us some lunch after so she made  grilled cheese, tomato soup and jello salad. I am absolutely terrified of jello salad and wasn't gonna eat some until she looked at me, with TEARS in her eyes and said, "you're not gonna try my jello salad?" Of course I had to try it so I scarfed it down and held in my gagging until we left. Worst thing I've eaten on the mish so far😂 #stateside - Great news! We are now allowed to go inside homes to have lessons! So we set up a million members lessons and it's been so fun getting to know e...

Week 18: Look to God and Live!

Ciao mi amici e famiglia! Well I've officially made it through 2 transfers in the mission field and we got the news last night that my comp and I are staying in Frederick! WAHOOOO! Such a blessing because I was not ready to leave the promised land. Also, another huge blessing it that my trainer, Sis Aiono, is coming back to the zone to be the new STL! It's gonna be a great transfer, I'm pumped. Besides the fact that winter is coming and we still aren't allowed to go inside andddd we are still on bikes:) But the Lord will provide! Highlights: - Henry is back on track and progressing towards baptism! He is willing to give up everything to follow the word of wisdom and we are helping him keep his commitments. *Send me your best coffee substitutes!* - Went on mini exchanges with the STLs and taught Kevin a lesson! We read 3 Nephi 11 with him and talked about baptism. He loved every word and it was such a blessing to have Sister Ripley there because she shared some things he...

Week 17: Rainbows

Image
Ciao a tutti! Whatta great week:) General Conference was incredible!! What were your guys' favorite talks or insights? I especially loved President Nelson's counsel to "Let God Prevail." So powerful! When we choose to have an eternal perspective and unwavering trust in God, life doesn't have go be gloomy or fearful. Life is amazing. God is so mindful of us. We are living in an world that needs Christ now more than ever before! Confrence was a bit of an eye opener for me. I've decided I need to stop waiting for this storm to pass and notice all the rainbows🌈 Last thursday we were just sitting in the church doing weekly planning when we heard a door open. A couple of seconds later this guy walks into the foyer and starts talking to us. He straight up asked us what church this was and if he could learn more about it. WHAT. We ended up talking to him for a good hour about his life, his beliefs, our beliefs, The Book of Mormon, the purpose of missionaries, etc. It...
