Week 60: "that's so fire"

Image
Ciao mia famiglia e miei amici!! Come state?? Shoutout to miei cugini KJ and Caleb for returning from their missions in Chile with honor.  It was such a blessing to serve at the same time as them and I learned so much from their examples:) Another shoutout to my cousin Nate for getting engaged! So excited for you all!  It was a miracle filled week here in Genova! We were able to find 3 part member families that we are hoping to start teaching! I have been looking for part member families to teach for weeks now & I'm so grateful God led us to them! One of them is a sweet little family from Brazil. I have been contacting the mom since I arrived here in Genova and we finally set up a time to meet her! Little did I know that she has 2 little boys who haven't been baptized. Apparently the sorellas were teaching them weekly, but when Covid hit they lost contact. We had the most bellissima serata together! We talked and laughed and even learned a little Portuguese! They have so l...

Ciaoooooo what's up everyone:) I hope you are all having a great summer & excited to start school soon! My 2 greenies got here 2 weeks ago! One is Italian!!!! Meno male. Such a blessing. The other is from Utah and we are practically twins! Things were a bit difficult to adjust to at first but now they are going great. We've had some busy and wonderful weeks here in Genova! We've built some great relationships with the members, found a few new people to teach and good to bed every night exhausted from running around all day! Life is so hard but so good! I just wanted to share a little thought I had while sitting in church on Sunday. Here in Italy they have a national holiday called "Ferragosto" (its the day that the virgin Mary ascended into heaven) and the whole country basically closes down and goes on vacation for that weekend! Haha so classic. Anyways, when we showed up to church on Sunday, there was hardly anyone there because they were all on vacation. As...

Ciaooooo I'm alive and well!   sorry i haven't been writing emails!! Lol I promised my mom I'd send one this week:)  WOW one whole transfer down and we survived! To be honest I had my doubts! But with lots of help from the Lord and probably all my guardian angels putting in extra hours....we had an amazing transfer! We saw so many little miracles, made a million mistakes and learned a lot. I LOVE GENOVA! Highlights: - ward party!! The first ward activity they've had in 2 years. It was so fun! We had a volleyball tournament on the beach and it was so classic watching all the cute Italians interact together. I still can't figure out if they are yelling cuz they love each other or hate each other?? - a man we are teaching went in for surgery this week and asked if he could receive a priesthood blessing before! We met at the church with a member in our ward, taught a lesson & had the blessing! It was bellissima:)) - we have been starting  all our of lessons by singi...

Week 55: Forza Azzurri!

BUONGIORNOOOO I'm alive! It has been an amazing few weeks here in Genova! Everyday is a new adventure and I love it:) Lots of laughing at language errors, running to catch trains, and waking up to the cheers of the entire country when Italia won the European cup!!! Best of all, we've seen some amazing miracles❤ I wanna share just one of them with you ! So last week I was asked by our bishop to give a talk in church...I was excited but also dreading it at the same time. Speaking italiano in front of the whole ward for 10 minutes?? Spookyyy! Anyways, as I prepared to write my talk I offered a prayer to my Father in Heaven. I asked Him to inspire me to know what to say, and I specifically asked that my words would touch at least ONE person. That I would say something that one person needed to hear & they would feel the spirit confirm it to them. I really wanted this. I had complete faith that God would provide me with this person. So sunday rolls around and we show up to churc...

Week 53: Felicita!!

Image
Ciao a tutti!! Uauuuu it has been a bellissime 2 weeks here in Italia:) I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of things here and just falling in love with every accept of the mission & this gorgeous country! Highlight reel: - We have an absolute baller member here who is having us teach all of her friends. Literally how did we get so blessed?!  - Despite the fact that Sorella Hatch and I can't speak the language, we have taught more in the past 2 weeks than ever before! The Lord is blessing us with the words to speak & even though we probably sound like 4 year olds, the people are understanding! Or at least they say they are?! - We had an amazing lesson of the Restoration with our new friend Giulia. We taught very simply but powerfully. When I recited the first vision the spirit just flooded the room & you could tell she felt it. I loved being able to testify to her of the truthfullness of this gospel. That lesson was my favorite experience I've had here in I...

Week 52: I have no idea what im doing:)))

Image
Ciao!!!! This email is gonna be short & sweet:) Found out yesterday that my trainer is leaving me to another area so me (been here 3 weeks) and Sorella Hatch (been here 6 weeks) are being left in Genova to fend for ourselves! HAH im completly terrified and excited at the same time. The langueage is a stuggle still, but we did a 3 day "english fast" as a companionship and that helped a lot! Only speaking Italian with eachother 24/7 gave me a fat headache but also expanded me vocabulary a whole bunch!! Like I said, I am feeling so terrified and not sure how I'm gonna even be able to do missionary work when I still have no idea how to schedule appointments....but this scripture from CFM this week was an answer to my prayers 6 "Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come." I know...

Week 51: Funnies!

Image
BUONGIORNO! I had an amazing week! Still don't understand 80% of what people are saying, but I've gotten really good at nodding along & asking random questions😅 This week has been full of hilarious moments HAH i love Italians. Lemme just tell you some funny things that have happened: - my first time getting on the train the door literally closed on my body when I was halfway in and started MOVING.  - we had a YSA activity at the park & introduced them to waterballoon volleyball. They thought it was the coolest thing. We had an entire audience of probably 25 people filming & cheering HA seriously so classic - whenever I tell people I'm from Utah they say, "ahhh sì, la fabrica." (Ahhh yes, the factory) - a member asked us to teach him some of our english slang and he spent the rest of the night saying, "pour me tea" (spill the tea) & "that is so upe" (thats so hype) ahahaha  - another member confessed to us that he is a addicted ...
